PSA is once again the N° 1 patent filer in France

According to the ranking issued by France's National Intellectual Property Institute (INPI), PSA Peugeot Citroën is confirmed as the country's leading patent filer, with 1,378 patent applications published in France in 2013.

Connectivity (multimedia equipment, networks, wiring, electronics and human-machine interface) and driving assistance systems are important areas for research and patent filings. Innovations such as the Driver Assistance Pack, Emergency Collision Alert System and Emergency Collision Braking System on the new Peugeot 308 point to the autonomous car of tomorrow.

GDPR is now applicable

Since last friday, the General Data Protrection Reglulation (GDPR) is in force. Complaints have been filed against Facebook, Google, Instagram and WhatsApp within hours of the new GDPR data protection law taking effect. Google and Facebook accused of breaking GDPR laws bbc.com A reason for CESA to talk about it, as it concerns the connected car. CESA2018 in December will therefore have a session on data protection and security.  French police will explain he threats of connectivity and data processing in mobility, then the French Data Protection Agency (CNIL) will explain the new GDPR and a lawyer will explain, how to apply it in practice, how to cope with the compliance requirements and how to benefit from it to develop new products.

CESA 2014 video : the congress seen by a US consultant

He was one of the speakers in the first round table of the congress, dedicated to worldwide market. Richard Bishop is Principal at Bishop Consulting and one of the top experts in the US, in the field of autonomous vehicles. Involved in many working groups, Mr Bishop took time to meet people at the congress and gave us an interview. He's impressed by what's going on in Europe to bring those cars to the market. Preventing from traffic jams with electronics and connected cars

Honda Motor announced the successful development of the world’s first technology to detect the potential for traffic congestion and determine whether the driving pattern of the vehicle is likely to create traffic jams. It's been developed in conjunction with the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo. Rather than providing information to help the driver avoid existing congestion based on current traffic information, the system monitors the acceleration and deceleration patterns of the vehicle to determine whether the driver’s driving pattern is likely to create traffic congestion. Based on this determination, the system provides the driver with appropriate information, including a color-coded display through the on-board terminal, to encourage smooth driving which will help alleviate the intensity of acceleration and deceleration by trailing vehicles, thereby helping to prevent or minimize the occurrence of vehicle congestion.
